My name is Ashley Pomykala and I am the momma behind Persevering Momma. I am a young momma with a disability. I was born with a genetic anomaly that is hereditary and caused me to have Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (Syndrome) because of this a passion for the medical field grew inside of me. I studied orthotic and prosthetic technology for 2 years at Baker College as well as Health Care Administration for an additional 2 years on top of the previous 2 years of college education. In doing all of this studying I also took a wide variety of writing courses from creative writing to analytical and business styled writing.
As a momma I have learned to live life and to constantly adapt my life in such a way as to be able to care for my son without any other adult present. There were times in my life where I never thought that I would get to where I am today, but I am definitely a Persevering Momma that wants to be able to be by my son’s side his entire life. I am pushing through life’s trials and finding ways to adapt so that I can keep pushing forward without relying on other people to care for my son. (Of course my close family ties help and his amazing daddy keep things going when I need help.)
I do all of my writing from home here in Northwest Indiana. I love to spotlight local events, and local traditions. I tend to focus on activities and events in the Metro-Chicago and Indianapolis area, but do sometimes expand beyond this area.
