Edit: This crafting post was originally meant to be posted during the arctic freeze that came through the Midwest. That week we had no mail for 3-4 days and my son and I stayed inside the house from Monday-Thursday without leaving. I wasn’t risking taking us out into -17 degree weather (and that was before the windchill). However, with me planning my son’s birthday party this post slipped through without being posted. I hope you still enjoy it.
Lately I have been using crafting as a stress-relief while dealing with a lot of crazy meetings and doctor appointments for Raiden and because of this I am becoming a lot more versed in using Cricut’s Cricut Design Space™. They have been uploading a lot more projects and cartridges to their software for people to use.
If you have a Cricut Access Membership Plan then you can use these cartridges with no additional fees. I have currently been digging through them and I am having so much fun designing projects for family members and friends.
They have different cartridges for each state so that you can make state themed gifts for family members that may have moved out of state or ones who just might enjoy having something showing their love for the state they are from. I really enjoyed looking at the Illinois options because even though I don’t live in Illinois any longer it will still always be home to me.
Another favorite set that I have come across is their new unicorn set. This set follows a very popular unicorn themed image while also making it unique to different holidays so that you can holiday themed items that are still cute and personal. Add some text and you have a one of a kind shirt or artwork.
Finding Cartridges in Design Space While Crafting
You can find cartridges pretty easily on Design Space. First you will need to start a new project and have a nice blank canvas to work with. I am going to show you what this looks like on mobile devices and tablets. If you need me to add imagery for using it on a computer I can add that later.

My blank project is in place and I will then select the image tool on the bottom of the screen. This tool allows you to search through their image database as well as their cartridges. Once you’ve clicked the image tab you will then select cartridges.

Once you are here you can just browse through the feed or if you know the name of the cartridge then you can type it into the search engine. I knew the name of the unicorn cartridge so I typed in “Unicorn Hair” and it popped right up.

You can then browse through the contents and select an image that you would like to have on your canvas to work with. Adding them to the canvas is done with a simple click of a button and then you have free reign to customize the project as you wish.

I chose the Unicorn with roses to play around with since Valentine’s Day is coming up. I thought it was appropriate and might make for a cute shirt or canvas type project for any girl in my life. We will see what it turns into once I add text, but in the meantime I love how quick and easy it was to find this artwork in Cricut’s Cricut Design Space™.
If you don’t have a Cricut.com you can buy them directly from Cricut’s website or from many local retailers. If you plan on getting Cricut Access Standard it is also wise to know that a membership to Access offers you a discount in the Cricut store as well.
