I have been trying to be a little bit more eco-friendly ever since I noticed how much waste you can have when you order food out. Whether it is through straws or toss away cups. There always seems to be a lot of waste at the end of an outing. This is what got me to thinking about changing up our lifestyle a little bit. I have started to change things little by little and here are a couple of ways we have started to do things differently.
The first way that I have started changing up our habits is by riding ourselves of disposable juice boxes. They are my 3 year old son’s absolute favorite thing. For whatever reason juice being drank from a juice box tastes a million times better than juice out of any other cup. So, when we got the Drink in the Box into our home I was hoping that it would become a novelty item like juice boxes were and I was right!
Drink in the Box is a perfect alternative to juice boxes. It is shaped like a juice box and features a straw that doesn’t get destroyed by little teeth that love to chew on things. The silicone straw holds up against even the toughest of chewers.
Kafe in the Box
Another way that we have been limiting our trash is through the use of the Kafe in the Box. My hubby always takes coffee with him to work or stops and gets some on his way to work. His new thing has been to fill up his Kafe in the Box at home and then get it refilled while he is at work. This stops him from having waste while at work and he can easily carry his cup with him. He admittedly would prefer a larger version so that he didn’t have to get a refill, but he does prefer this to his giant steel tumblers that he had been using previously.
So, if you are looking for a nice 12 oz, or 16 oz coffee cup that is double wall design to help keep your hot drinks hot and your cold drinks cold. Even if you aren’t a coffee drinker, but these cups are also perfect for tea drinkers like myself. I love having tea on the go and the 16 oz cup is the perfect size for my tea.
Stainless Steel Straws
I am one of those people who has to have a straw to drink from a glass when I am out at a restaurant, but many places either aren’t offering straws or only have paper straws to drink from. I just can’t get with the idea of using a paper straw so instead I have began bringing straws for myself and my son when we go out.
Stainless steel straws have been a saving grace for me. They are easy to clean and can be used millions of times. You can find them as straight straws or bent ones which also gives you a lot of flexibility to still have a straw that you prefer.
