This may be my second pregnancy, but I will admit that I cannot recall a lot of what it felt like to carry a child in my womb the first time because I was so stressed out and because I was in denial until almost the third trimester. I am now midway through my 20th week. To be clear I am at week 19 and 4 days pregnant. I have had doctors and nurses asking me for the past few weeks if I could feel the baby move and I would be honest and tell them that I only felt the weight of my child inside of me.
It wasn’t until yesterday that I could honestly say that I felt the baby move inside of me. The first movement that I felt I was pretty sure was just a muscle spasm, but when I felt it throughout the day I knew what it really was. My child was moving inside of me and I could feel it rippling inside of my womb. I am pleased to know that my child is active inside of me seeing as I am being categorized as a high risk pregnancy and I want a healthy baby growing inside of me. I was hoping that I would also start feeling things because I still have two weeks until my next ultrasound and I haven’t had one since I was 12 weeks pregnant back when I was still living in South Central Indiana and was going to a doctor that I did not trust.
On average at 20 weeks the baby is the size of an heirloom tomato and is about 6 inches in length from crown to rump. I am hoping that my child is growing at a healthy rate and cannot wait to verify the size of my little peanut.
When did you first feel your baby move during pregnancy?
