Teach Children About Christmas Early

I love the holidays and I have spent a lot of time trying to decide how I will celebrate them differently with my new son this year.  After much thought I realized I did not need to do much differently with him than I already do to celebrate the holidays.  Instead what I need to do is teach him about the holidays.  He is young and this will be his first Christmas and I want him to know what we are celebrating.  I know that I could read Bible verses to him, but he would not understand that.  The words would be too difficult for him to understand. That should not stop me or you from starting early.  That is why I believe that it is important to teach children about Christmas early.

Teach Children Early!

That is why I am so excited that HarperCollins Christian Publishing was willing to provide me with some amazing Children’s Books all about Christmas.  Raiden and I have had a great time sitting down reading these books together.  I just love the way his face lights up when we read books together.  Knowing that he is listening and learning new things excites me as much as it does to him.  I know that as he grows he will start helping me to read the books with him and I can only hope that next year for his second Holiday season he will bring the books to me and ask me to read them with him.

Right now our favorites are the two board books.  Mr. Raiden just loves to help me turn the pages and cannot with the other two because the pages are too fragile and he just does not understand restraint yet.  As he grows older I know he will appreciate each book more and more.  For now I am thrilled that I am able to teach him a little bit about Christmas and what it means.

If you are interested in any of the above books you can find them listed below:\

  • Ready, Set, Find Christmas
  • Goodnight, Manger
  • A Night of Great Joy
  • Christmas Love Letters from God: Bible Stories
