My First Cricut Explore Air 2 Tester Project

July 10, 2018 by Ashley 2 Comments

As you may remember I purchased a Cricut Explore Air™ 2 machine as a late Christmas gift to myself and recently posed the question about whether or not this would be my new hobby/obsession. If you’d like to read about setting up my crafting space you can check that out here.

I have been so excited to start using my Cricut Explore Air 2 that I’ve been planning projects, but didn’t want to attempt one that might not turn out because I don’t know what I am doing. That is why I decided to start with the Starter Project that’s included with the Cricut Explore Air 2.  When you purchase your Cricut you will get a free 2 week trial of Access, but it is smart to look into you options and purchase Access from the start.  With a Cricut Access Membership Plan you gain access to tons of fonts and projects in Design Space with no additional fees.

The Starter Project was very simple which I was very thankful for. It came with cardstock already cut to size for the card that I was to be making. I applied the cardstock to the green mat and inserted the black pen that came with my Cricut.

*I would recommend making your new mat a little less sticky by patting your hands on the mat to remove some stickiness otherwise you may find it difficult to remove the cardstock when you complete your cut.

Halfway through the cut you will need to change out the pen for the scoring tool so that the machine will make your card fold line. This is a simple task because the machine will leave the tool adapter in the middle of the machine for easy access.

Once it’s done cutting you will remove the cardstock from the mat and fold it in half. From the inside you will then slide in the colored paper as the background to the cuts that were made.

As you can see it was a very simple and quick project!
