Best Jobs For Single Moms – And How To Qualify For Them

July 23, 2013 by Ashley 1 Comment

single moms

As a single parent, it’s important to search for jobs with two things in mind: good salary and flexibility. Couples raising children are able to rely on one another to juggle work and personal life, but single individuals may not have someone they can turn to when a child gets sick, has a surprise commitment, or has individual needs. If you’re expecting every employer to understand when one of these things come up, you’re probably setting yourself up for disappointment. Unfortunately, many employers expect you to prioritize professionalism above all else. If you go into the job search looking for a position that fits the needs of your unique lifestyle you’re much more likely to find success. Once you determine what you’d like to do, consider if you need additional training for it to qualify as a candidate for that job. If so, keep in mind that there are many assistance programs that help with money for college.

Do Your Research

Identify which jobs offer the most flexibility and highest salary in vocations that would suit your skills and personality. Do a search for jobs that are a great fit for working mothers, and also companies that are a great fit. You don’t necessarily have to have a high-power career to be successful and live a happy life. In fact, some mothers may prefer to take an assistant job if it pays the bills and they’re working for an excellent company.

If Necessary, Continue Education

School is expensive, but it’s also an investment. In most cases, it will drastically increase the amount of money you’re able to make in a given profession. The best jobs for single parents tend to include positions in sales, public relations, healthcare, and real estate. Education is also on the list, although it may be a little more difficult to make a suitable salary. A few of these professions only require a certification in order to enter the field. Others require a degree in that specialization. Factor into your decision how willing and able you are to take on another degree. It may be that a certification is a better choice for you.

Don’t be Shy

During the interview process, don’t be afraid to be shy about your personal life as a single mother, but also be tactful in how you speak of it and don’t lead with questions about flexibility. If you’ll need opportunities to work from home or the flexibility to attend to children’s needs, your employer needs to know that in order to be sure hiring you would be a winning situation for both of you.

How To Look After Tadpoles As Pets: It’s Easy And Fun

July 13, 2013 by Ashley Leave a Comment

How To Look After Tadpoles PP

How about having a tadpole as pet?

I mean you can have a tadpole as pet and you can easily raise one if you want to. Not only that it is fun but you will learn a lot of exciting things about tadpoles. I have been working with tadpoles for quite some time and I have raised almost 5 of them. I love them and now I am planning to get a few more on board.

Having tadpoles as pets is not something new. I know several people who love raising tadpoles. In fact a few people, I know personally, love tadpoles more than gold fish.

It is all fun to look after a tadpole.

So how you can look after a tadpole if you have one or if you are planning to raise one?

The most important thing is to have reasonable sized container. It must not be too small neither too large. You can also choose to have a pool. This is something very common and we all know that.

The important thing to know is tadpoles need fresh water. You have to replace water of the container every day – every day means every single day. You need to make sure that the water is absolutely chlorine-free. Chlorine is deadly for tadpoles and I know people who have seen their tadpoles dead in the container. Always use de-chlorinating drops. You can easily buy de-chlorinating drops. It is a must else you will not going to see your tadpoles again.

OK, now here is the hard part. What tadpoles eat? Tadpoles love green vegetables especially lettuce. They also love to eat small bugs and insects. Besides, tadpoles can also eat each other and to your surprise, you will find a few missing tadpoles in your container every now and then provided you don’t give them good food.

As it is hard to give your tadpoles bugs and insects, so alternately you need to feed them lettuce. They love it. You need to boil lettuce for 20 minutes, chop it and then give it to your tadpoles. They will eat it. If lettuce is not finely chopped, tadpoles will not be able to eat it because they have small mouths. They will be starved to death or they will eat their fellows.

The problem with most of the people having tadpoles is that they don’t know as to whether their tadpoles are getting enough food or not? And whether they are happy or not?

Here is how to see whether your tadpoles are happy or not.

Tadpoles would only feel unhappy when they will be starved. If you see that the water gets dirty and the food you gave them is making water contaminated, it means that the tadpoles are not eating what you are giving them. Change the food or if it is something big, chop it and then give it to them. If you have to replace water everyday just because it is too dirty, it means there is something wrong.

Alternately, if you see that tadpoles are missing or if one day you see that a tadpole has disappeared, it means it has been eaten by any fellow. This is a clear indication of the fact that your tadpoles are not happy.

This is it from my side. I hope you must have learnt a few things from this post. It is not hard to raise tadpoles. All you need to give them is your time and care. There is nothing else these small creatures need. I am sure you will love your tadpoles when they will become frogs. It’s always fun and lovable to see small tadpoles growing right in front of your eyes with your efforts. That gives you a great feeling.

Love tadpoles and they will love you!

Simple Pregnancy Advice for Optimum, Holistic Health

June 26, 2013 by Ashley Leave a Comment

beautiful pregnant womanIt’s no doubt that you’ll get a multitude of advice during pregnancy. Many mothers or expectant mothers are very adamant about how you should take care of yourself during pregnancy. Read any mommy blog, and you’ll see that mommy advice is a hot topic — and one of great controversy. If you’re a first-time mother, the throngs of advice can be confusing, and the conflicting ideas can cause some anxiety as you prepare to be the best mother you can be. At its simplest, here are a few key ingredients to a healthy pregnancy.

Take Care of Yourself

Many women have reported that during pregnancy, they experienced a first-time phenomenon: the feeling you have when you eat when you’re hungry and sleep when you’re tired. With our fast-paced lives, it can be difficult to take care of ourselves with the love we deserve. When you’re pregnant, it’s important to set aside the achiever in you and rest when you’re tired and eat when you’re hungry. It’s as simple as that. Be sure to eat plenty of vegetables and take your vitamins. Check out www.naturesbest.co.uk for some great, high-quality vitamin options. Drink plenty of water, walk a little every day, and consult a medical professional for more advice on how to best take care of yourself.

Give Yourself Grace

When you’re incubating a child, you may not have the energy you once had. Don’t get down yourself. You’re doing the single most important task in life — giving another person life. Take this time to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally and figure out the type of mother you want to be apart from the voices of others. The only way you can do this is by spending some time in stillness, allowing yourself the space to dream and think. Give yourself that time.

Listen to People You Trust

It may sound too simple to mention, but listen most to the people you trust. With all the conflicting voices, it’s easy to let these tried and true voices fade into the background, but they are the ones that are the most important to consider. The people who love you want to see you succeed, and they know you better than anyone else. Ask for their advice, and take it to heart. If you know some great kids that you love being around, talk to their parents. Find a mentor. Build the relationships that will help support you long after your baby is born.
