Life’s Messiest Moments: Infant Edition

November 4, 2016 by Ashley 77 Comments

This post and giveaway were made possible by iConnect and Dreft. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.

Sometime’s life’s messiest moments are ones that you would never expect if you didn’t have a kid.  I had thought my life was messy before, but boy was I wrong.  The moment my son was born everything changed.  My life’s messiest moments now come in the form of my infant.  The first messy moment that I came across was when my son was one month old and we had his very first blow-out.

Oh. My. God. I thought that blow-out was going to be the end of me.  My sister and I could have made everyone laugh.  We were a train-wreck and were laughing the entire time.  I was wrong though; those early months are the easy ones.  Yes, blow-outs are scary, but I have found that meal time and craft time can be so much worse!

Meal Time: Life’s Messiest Moments

My lovely, little man, has started attempting to self feed and I swear I need to get myself a lab coat to wear when he is eating!!  Like seriously… Oh. My. God.  Food gets everywhere, but at least he is having a good time and is learning while he does it.  As you can see he does manage to get food into his mouth, but a majority of the food that is in his bowl ends up all over the kitchen.  Believe me when I say you did not want to see the floor!! There were green beans and cereal EVERYWHERE.  I could not move without stepping on some of his food.

One thing I can say is that I am thankful to have Dreft in my life because without Dreft I would never be able to get his clothes and bibs clean after one of these messy moments in our life.  Dreft manages to clean his clothes and leave them smelling great even after a messy diaper or old spoiled food is crusted on his clothing.  I have followed Dr. Dyan Hes’ advice and am well stocked up on bibs because I know they need to be utilized for more than just meal time.  In one day Raiden can easily go through four bibs due to meal time and eating teething crackers.  I use them because I find them to be a bit easier to clean a couple bibs than to clean multiple outfits a day.

Cleaning up Life’s Messiest Moments!

Even though life can get messy we have learned that one of the best things about getting messy is clean up time.  While much of clean up time can be annoying (like washing the floor and his highchair), it also means bath time which is a fun little treat for my man.  He (finally) loves bath time.  It may have taken six months, but Raiden loves when we get down and play in the bath tub!  I have always thought that bath time is a great way to embrace Raiden’s messy side and was pleased to see that Dr. Dyan Hes has included bath time as being one of her “messy baby” tips.  She says that it is a great way to splash and have fun while cleaning up from baby’s messes.

Cleaning up Raiden is now a fun exploration and no longer a chore.  I used to dread bath time because it meant a bright red infant screaming at the top of his lungs.  I also used to dread the stains that come from a baby’s daily life.  I will admit that when the weather was nice I used to leave him in just a diaper.  I claimed I did it because it was easier, but that isn’t the truth.  I was honestly terrified of the messes that my son would make in his clothes.  It didn’t matter if they were new or second-hand clothes, I was still terrified of cleaning those messes up.  I made the change to Dreft and was able to let out a sigh of relief.

Their products are formulated to be hypoallergenic, gentle on skin, tough on stains, and with a fresh baby scent that everyone knows and they work REALLY well.  I love that I can add a scent booster to the wash because sometimes even after one wash those funky baby smells just don’t go away.

I am thankful for their detergent because most of the time I do not need to treat my little man’s clothes with a concoction of stain removers.  They boast that Dreft removes 99% of stains and I would have to agree with this sentiment.  Right now you can be proud of your messiest moments because Dreft is hosting a fun little contest.

The Scent That Screams Baby – Dreft

May 5, 2016 by Ashley 1 Comment

This post and giveaway were made possible by iConnect and Dreft. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.

I am so thankful to be working with Dreft do that I can share my #AmazingHood story with you just like Shawn and Catherine Lowe from The Bachelor have been able to do.  The journey to parenthood is a crazy road that we go down and being a new parent can be terrifying.  The months prior to my son’s birth consisted of me worrying about every little thing that could occur once he was born.  It was stressful, but oh so exciting to think about.

Dreft on White HiResShawn and Catherine Lowe look so excited at their baby shower. I just love that look. We were the same way at our baby shower.  I remember making our baby registry was difficult because I wasn’t sure if things had changed over the years in regards to baby laundry detergent.

I quickly learned that things have changed a little.  Dreft is still the leading baby laundry detergent on the market and the number 1 pediatrician recommended hypoallergenic brands for babies.  However, some changes have been made to the product line; they now have Dreft Stage 1: Newborn, Dreft Stage 2: Active Baby and Dreft Blissfuls which are my favorite addition to the Dreft family!

Blissfuls are an in-wash scent booster that gives you more of that baby scent that you love and adore.  I cannot tell you how many people agree with me when I say that the scent of Dreft is the biggest scent that we associate with babies.  It is that smell that they have magically turned into detergent for our little ones that makes them smell even more amazing than they already do.  I just enhances that natural baby smell that no one can get enough of.  I will admit to throwing my nursing tank tops and nursing gowns into the wash with baby’s clothes so that they smell like Dreft as well.

Dreft

Thus far I have been loving Dreft just as my mother loved using it on my clothes when I was a baby.  I am hooked on their Blissfuls in-wash scent booster because it does give that extra boost of baby scent that you don’t get with the detergent.  I have also found it fun to add it to my laundry when I am using other detergents for our clothes so that they smell like baby as well.  If you are a nursing/pumping mom you might find this little tidbit to be helpful.  I have learned that it is easier to reach let down when pumping away from baby if you have something that smells like your baby with you.  This being said when my clothes smell like Dreft I tend to get a faster let down as well as am able to pump more milk in a session when I smell like him.

Now for the best part…
