The Haircut Guide from Madison Reed

Deciding on a new hair cut can make you ask a lot of questions: Should I get the gorgeous celeb hair style I saw in that magazine? What about that cute cut I saw on someone walking downtown? It can be tough to know what’s going to work best for you. That’s why the team at Madison Reed has come up with a handy haircut guide:

Consider all the Angles

It can often be tempting to make a big cut, especially when it’s been a while and you’re craving a shorter, fresher look. But make sure to consider all the styles you’ll be able to create with your new hair before you go for it, especially if you’re thinking of going really short. Keep in mind how your hair will fall if you try to curl or straighten it, whether or not the same tools will still work for you, or even if you could use fewer styling products.

Is it You?

Your personality can plays the biggest role choosing a new hair style. If you’re more reserved and have had the same look for a while, be sure to prepare yourself for the fabulous change a new cut can bring! If you’re always up for an adventure, why not really go for it and try something out of your comfort zone? If you’re the artistic type or like to stand out from the crowd, then don’t be afraid to go for some asymmetry and experimentation.

Color Reviving Gloss

A New Cut vs. a New Color

Are you craving a new haircut, or do you just want something a little different? Changing up your hair color can sometimes have the same effect, without losing your gorgeous locks or signature style. Freshen things up with new highlights to emphasize your cheekbones and eyes, or choose a new color altogether. Want to find out which colors would look best with your skin tone? Get a free color consultation from Madison Reed’s Color Advisor.

You can get personalized recommendations by building your Madison Reed Hair Profile or giving the Color Crew a call. Someone at Madison Reed is always available to hear your personal hair history and will tailor suggestions to suit your hair and style. And be sure to check out Madison Reed’s Blog post for even more haircut advice.

top bun madison reed

How to Create a Bejeweled Top Bun

1. Gather hair up to your crown and put into a ponytail. Leave a few flattering face-framing tendrils loose.

2. Pin hair securely into a messy bun with bobby pins.

3. Bedazzle your bun with glittering adornments. We chose diamond spin pins by Goody. These and similar accessories are easy to find in drugstores and even easier to use!

barrette madison reed

Big and Bold Barrettes

1. Start by giving yourself a deep side part. This will create the look of bangs without a haircut (and possibly become a conversation starter at parties!).

2. Take your favorite barrette and clip all the hair that you gathered to the side.

3. The bigger the barrette the better! It’s a simple way to stand out in the crowd.

Even the simplest of styles can be dramatic with a little extra sparkle. Give your hair that extra shine every day with Madison Reed Radiant Color Kit or the new semi-permanent Color Reviving Gloss. Madison Reed’s hair color is better for you and better for your hair as it contains no harsh chemicals like PPD or ammonia. Find your perfect hair color now!

Try Out Some New Hairstyles With Hair Extensions

November 5, 2013 by Ashley Leave a Comment

featherFine Featherheads is a great place to go if you are looking to change up your look but not make a permanent change. Their hair accessories help you to create a new look and new hairstyle that you can change on a regular basis without breaking the bank.  They are the original and leading provider of feather hair extensions on the market.

They offer so many other products as well including hair chalk that works well even on dark hair unlike other hair chalks on the market.  Just look at the model on the right.  I like that it works on all hair types because with dark hair personally I know how annoying it can be when I cannot use something because my hair is so dark.

Day 5: A photo of yourself two years ago.

September 5, 2013 by Ashley Leave a Comment

2011Day five is a tough one for me.  I have been digging through my pictures and I am finding it hard to find any real pictures of me from two years ago.  I was in a tough place back in 2011 and I really didn’t take many pictures of anything that year.  I looked back and I really don’t have any from 2010 either.  Some years it seems like I take a lot of pictures and other years nearly none.  Guess life is that way especially when you don’t have children around.

2011 meI guess it felt like there wasn’t much to document in those two years of my life.  I am trying to think back at everything that happened during that time and really things were pretty chaotic and crazy.  My hair those two years was much shorter than it really ever is.  Both myself and my boyfriend, Dan had cut off our hair and donated it to Locks of Love.

I loved donating my hair, but I still prefer how it looks long.  I have always loved long hair and that whole time I really missed my long hair.  I might donate my hair again some day, but for now I will be keeping it nice and long.
