My Beauteous Adventure to Cedar Point!

September 16, 2014 by Ashley 1 Comment

Reality has been setting back in since yesterday and boy do I wish it would slow down.  I am not ready to go back to the norm again.  I had so much fun during my beauteous adventure to Cedar Point this past weekend.  (Beauteous is a word right? If not, it is now!)  My anxiety and panic attacks were on full force last week when I found out that Teresa from Sassy Mom, 2 Spoiled Bratz would not be road tripping to Cedar Point with me.

My arrival at Cedar Point was one of nervous energy where I fiddled with everything in my car and aimlessly walked around taking in the sights.  How couldn’t I?  The last time I had been to a theme park was in High School and it was nothing like Cedar Point.  I had hours until I would get to meet my roommate who was flying in from California.  Thankfully I was saved by the infamous Liz of WomanlyWoman.com!

I had been waiting years. Yes, YEARS to meet Miss Liz. We have been online buddies since… well since before the birth of Parsimonious Pash.  (She didn’t realize that we have been buddies that long, but that’s ok. I forgive her!)  I spent much of my weekend in Liz’s presence as well as just hanging out with all sorts of bloggers that I had not known before.

The view from the Icebreakers Hotel that I shared with Elayne of Living the FantabuLESS Life was amazing at night.  It was just as gorgeous during the day, but you cannot beqat those lights on the rides that we could see easily from our bedroom windows.  They were even nice enough to change our room to one of the handicap accessible rooms on the first floor so that I could easily use my manual wheelchair.

The shower was the best part because I was able to sit down and not have to worry about whether or not I was going to slip and fall while on my mini adventure.  The weekend was crazy and insane just like I expected it to be, but I got a great upper body workout from pushing myself around so much.  I wish I knew how many miles I pushed myself in it.  It felt like a million! (Ok, that is definitely an exaggeration.)

I loved my trip to Cedar Point and cannot wait to go back again! (Hopefully soon!) I will see you all again next year at Bloggy Con ’15!

Genesis and StudioPress Turned Parsimonious Pash Into What it is Today

November 14, 2013 by Ashley Leave a Comment

Genesis Framework for WordPress
I have been trying to get the perfect look for Parsimonious Pash since day one and up until now I was never satisfied with the look that I had created.  You can check out all of the looks since Parsimonious Pash became self-hosted on The Wayback Machine.  The blog has grown a lot and has changed from being kind of kiddish in appearance to something very sleek and elegant looking.

I would never have been able to get a look like this without the help of the Genesis Framework.  The Genesis Framework really helps to create a custom, sleek design easily.  You can build your own or you can purchase the StudioPress.com themes and get one premade that you customize from there.  I went with one of the themes I could purchase and then edited it to my liking.  For me it works perfectly and does everything that I want.

I wanted something that wasn’t busy, was elegant, and still had a feminine touch and that is exactly what this theme does.  I have gotten nothing but compliments since I have switched to this theme.  I have more customizations available to me with Genesis than I had before as well as some amazing plugins that only work with the Genesis Framework.  If you want to see the theme I use it’s the Decor Theme. If you go there you will see how little I had to change though there is a lot more that I can change if I decide I want to.

StudioPress Theme of the Month

Now if you are someone who has a lot of websites or manages a lot of websites you might want to consider the StudioPress Pro Plus All-Theme Package. This will get you all of their themes that are available for purchase. It is a great deal and will save you money if you plan on buying multiple themes.  Genesis is really something that is very flexible.  If you are a beginner/novice there is something for you just as there is something for the expert as well.

Click here to download The Genesis Guide for Absolute Beginners (PDF – 1.4 MB). This is a great little guide that has helped me a lot because I hadn’t known anything about Genesis before I decided it was what I needed to take Parsimonious Pash to the next level.
