Celebrating Valentine’s Day the Simple way

February 12, 2020 by Ashley Leave a Comment

This is a sponsored post thanks to Teleflora for Valentine’s Day.

Sometimes life gets a little crazy and you don’t have a lot of extra time to spend celebrating the little things, or the big things either. Valentine’s Day this year was almost overlooked in our house due to some crazy medical things going on with our new little bundle of joy. Thankfully we knew about Teleflora. Teleflora came in for the win this year!

Valentine's Day with Teleflora

We opted for a delivery of the Playfully Pink Bouquet from Teleflora’s Valentine’s Day bouquet options. One thing that we love about Teleflora deliveries is that we can order them online with the click of a button, but that they are also delivered and made by local florists. This means that while we are opting for the quickest and simplest options we are still shopping small and local.

I want to remind everyone that not just the men need to consider a bouquet of flowers as a great gift. This can also be a great gift for a woman to give her man (or woman). I have known many men who would love to get a beautiful bouquet of flowers as gifts. They help brighten up the home or office and smell amazing!

Will you be getting a Teleflora bouquet for Valentine’s Day?

If you are looking for kids Valentine’s Day ideas then I recommend you check out this cute post about allergy friendly Valentine’s Day options.

I’m The Lady and He’s The Tramp – Lady and the Tramp

February 14, 2018 by Ashley Leave a Comment

I’m the Lady and he is the Tramp; well not really, but it sounds good!  Today is Valentine’s Day and I am celebrating by sharing some exciting news with you.  Disney’s Lady and the Tramp is being added to Disney’s Signature Collection!  This means you will be able to buy a special edition DVD in stores and online starting on February 27th (buy on February 20th on Movies Anywhere).

For me this is one of the best Disney movies to watch for Valentine’s Day.  While you won’t be able to buy the movie in time for today you can express your love to your special someone by recreating the iconic spaghetti and meatball dinner with them.  After recreating this adorable scene you can tell your lover that they will be getting a special surprise later in the month.

The Disney Signature Collection

This edition of Lady and the Tramp comes with bonus features never before released on DVD.  I find these features to be worth buying a new copy of the movie even if you already own one.  It’s also a great way to create an extra collection to pass down to your children when they grow up.

Special Features

  • Walt & His Dogs – Through archival recordings and photos, hear the tales of the dogs Walt Disney owned and loved over his lifetime.
  • Stories from Walt’s Office – Take a tour of Walt’s office suite on the Studio lot, carefully re-created to look just as it did when he occupied it.
  • How to Make a Meatball and Other Fun Facts About “Lady and The Tramp” – Watch a delicious lesson on how to make perfect meatballs with teen chef Amber Kelley and Oh My Disney Show Host Alexys Gabrielle.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day With Helping Hearts

February 5, 2018 by Ashley Leave a Comment

This is a sponsored post.

This is my son’s second Valentine’s Day and I want to start things off right by teaching him a lesson about being a helper and helping others while we celebrate such a loving holiday. I have always felt like people teach paying it forward with Thanksgiving because we are sharing what we are thankful for and I wanted to spread that love on to another holiday.

This year we will be watching the new Disney Minnie: Helping Hearts DVD during the month of February to help instill the idea of helping our friends and family whenever possible. Instead of just buying gifts to show our love for each other I want to teach my son to help his family and friends. Helping others can often mean so much more to people than a silly little gift.

Minnie: Helping Hearts

This movie features Minnie and Daisy, a set of BFF’s, that just want to assist their friends with their happy hearts and helping hands. The dvd features 8 episodes that showcase their loving and helpful nature. If your children love Disney and love Minnie Mouse then they will love this cute video.

Episodes:

  • The Happiest Helpers Cruise!
  • The Big Broadcast
  • Adventures in Buddysitting!
  • Lights! Camera! Help!
  • Grandpa Beagle’s Day Out
  • Artful Helpers
  • Cuckoo La-La
  • Figaro’s New Friend

You can find this DVD in stores February 6th! Put it on your list as a great Valentine’s Day gift for your little ones.

Cupids Day: A Holiday For Everyone

You may wonder why I chose the broken heart like I did, but in all honesty I don’t have a great reason as to why.  Ok, I will admit that I wrote that first line quite a while back when I thought things were perfect in my life.  How long ago exactly?  I wrote that first line last year and never actually wrote a Valentine’s Day post.

This is my first Valentine’s Day as a single woman.  Valentine’s Day or Cupids Day, as I like to call it, is a day meant for couple’s.  I hear mixed things about it all of the time with some people calling it “just another Hallmark Holiday”, but this holiday is one that has been around for a very long time.

Some time ago I did some research on the topic and found out that it is named after a Christian martyr which dates back to the 5th century though from what I have read it also links back to the Roman holiday, Lupercalia.  This day of romance is one that I hope to share this year with close friends and those I love even if I don’t have a current “significant other”.

My heart is still healing from my last love, a man that I spent seven years of my life with.  Every heart slowly heals as someone or some people come and help you see that you are not alone, you are not broken.  Each past love, each past heart break helps to mold the person that you are today and while it may feel like it will never stop hurting – someday it will just hit you that it doesn’t hurt so much.

You will remember the good times and the bad times, but be able to look at them with clear eyes and realize just how much it has helped you grow.  I am not to this point with my latest love, but I can tell you my high school sweetheart even after all of these years still has a small piece of my heart.  She was/is the sweetest girl I will ever know.  You could look into her eyes and see something you would never see anywhere else.

She will always be my first love.  She will always have that special piece of my heart and I hope that just maybe she will see this and realize how important she was and still is to me to this day so many years later.  I would not be the woman I am today had I not spent so much of my high school career head over heels in love with her despite the problems and complications that it brought to my life.

So, if you are single this year for Cupids Day take a moment and think about those past loves.  Let your heart heal and keep moving forward.  I am and I know you can, too.

Happy Valentine's Day...

I would love to hear your happy or sad stories.

Who will you be thinking about this Cupids Day?
