Don’t Let Those Tummy Bugs Get You Down During The Holidays

November 11, 2018 by Ashley Leave a Comment

This is a sponsored post thanks to DiaResQ.

About a month ago I sat on the toilet while watching my son play in the tub. I had been at a loss as to what I should do. The poor guy had diarrhea so bad that his poor little butt and legs were raw. We had never battled something like this before and the cries coming from his mouth were devastating. I could tell he hurt with the diaper just as much as he did without it. It broke my heart knowing he was in so much pain. It was so bad that I called my mother-in-law in a panic not sure what else to do because I was out of ideas.

What I wish I had known that day

I wish I had known about DiaResQ because nothing I had been doing was helping him to rid himself of the diarrhea. I made sure to give him fibrous foods and was keeping his fluid in take up in hopes of keeping him hydrated, but when I searched for diarrhea relief online at local stores I came up with nothing. Absolutely nothing and it devastated me. How was I supposed to help my 2 year old when there were no products out there?

I was wrong. DiaResQ does exist.

I am writing this because I want other moms, other parents to know that DiaResQ exists and it is something that is safe for toddlers to take. DiaResQ is different because it’s not a drug or antibiotic—it’s a food made from naturally derived ingredients that reach the intestine for rapid relief. It does contain eggs and dairy so those with sensitivities or allergies to these ingredients may not be able to use it.  I love that it is has a light vanilla flavor and comes in a powder form.

I do know that it isn’t easy to get toddlers to drink what you want them to drink, but sometimes you just need to use a little bribery to get them to do it. You explain that it will help their tummy and help stop all the poops. If that doesn’t work then find their favorite toy or snack and offer it up as incentive to drink the drink. (at least this is how I get my son to take his medications)

My recommendation is to go and get some so that you have it on hand in case of an emergency like I had a month ago. It’s the perfect time because you don’t want to be caught unprepared the next time diarrhea strikes – stock up on DiaResQ now at CVS! Get $3 off DiaResQ now through November 24th at CVS. No code or coupon necessary.

Getting Your Digestive Tract on Track During The Holidays

November 30, 2017 by Ashley Leave a Comment

This post is sponsored by Culturelle Probiotics Digestive Health.

During the holidays my digestive tract and digestive system just go down hill.  Over the years I have figured out that the cause of distress on my digestive system comes from the fact that I eat a ton of food that usually isn’t a part of my diet.  I used to think my only option was to stay away from all the food that causes me issues during the holidays, but I have since learned that there is a way to help control my digestive tract issues and that is with the help of Culturelle.

digestive tract

Using Culturelle Probiotics to Aid Digestive Tract Health

One thing that I have learned is that probiotics can easily help aid your digestive system by adding good bacteria to your digestive system.  The good bacteria are what help break down your foods and help to reduce gas and boating that is caused by a lack of good bacteria in your digestive system.  If you start a regimen of taking Culturelle Probiotics before the holidays you can help prevent the bloating and gas that can occur during this time.  These probiotics also have been known to help minimize digestive and stomach issues that often occur while traveling and lets be honest, most of us do some form of travelling during the holidays.

Which Form of Culturelle Probiotics Are Right For You?

Let’s talk about the different forms of Culturelle Probiotics.  There are three different types to choose from and really you can choose whichever you believe will work best for you.

digestive tract

Culturelle Probiotics Digestive Health Daily Probiotic Capsules

These capsules are meant as a daily probiotic.  Each capsule has 10 billion active cultures in them to aid in your digestive health.  These capsules are vegetarian so they are safe for vegetarians to take without risking any changes to their diet and/or lifestyle.

Culturelle Probiotics Digestive Health Daily Probiotic Chewable Tablets

These probiotics are perfect for someone who cannot swallow pills.  You can open up the capsules if you wish, but I would not recommend that as they will not taste good at all.  Instead you can buy these chewable probiotics that also have 10 billion active cultures in them.  These probiotics are not vegetarian friendly and do have natural and artificial flavorings in them.

Culturelle Probiotics Digestive Health Extra Strength Capsules

This probiotic capsule is meant for someone with a more regular need for a probiotic.  Each capsule has 20 billion active cultures in them.  This is 2x’s as much as the regular capsules.  These are also a daily probiotic that is supposed to aid in more persistent stomach and digestive issues.

So if you are like me and your stomach goes a little crazy during all the crazy holiday meals hurry up and pick up a package of Culturelle Probiotics to help your stomach out before it starts having problems.  You can even head over to their website to get a coupon for money off your purchase.  If you are an Amazon shopper like me check out this page to find their products and always remember to check for coupons to clip on each listing.

Tips for Helping a Child with Malocclusion

March 21, 2014 by Ashley Leave a Comment

Malocclusion is a medical term for a condition where the upper and lower jaws are not properly aligned. People suffering from this condition may have underbites, overbites or crossbites. The condition is highly prevalent in children. You will want to know if your child is suffering from malocclusion and make sure that they receive treatment if needed.

Does Your Child Need Treatment for Malocclusion?

According to the Boston Children’s Hospital, approximately nine out of ten children have some form of malocclusion. Only about one in six of them actually need treatment due to medical problems. However, many other children receive treatment for cosmetic reasons.

You should consider treatment if your child is experiencing any distress from the condition. Here are some factors that you will want to consider:

  • Your child is having difficulty chewing.
  • Your child has difficulty cleaning their teeth properly.
  • Your child has headaches while chewing.
  • Your child is self-conscious about their appearance.

Your dentist will let you know if your child’s malocclusion is expected to improve or worsen. They may recommend treatment in the future.

What Types of Treatment Are Available?

There are a number of different treatments for malocclusion. Here are some that you may want to be aware of:

Braces

Most people think that braces are the best way to fix malocclusion. They may help some children with an unusually bad underbite or overbite. However, there are some disadvantages that you will want to consider:

  • file000503516932

They can be embarrassing to wear.

  • They are also abrasive and cause damage to your teeth and gums.
  • They can make it more difficult to clean your teeth.

You may want to consider alternate treatments before getting your child braces.

Appliances to Change Chewing Patterns

There are a number of mouth guards that can change your child’s chewing patterns. They use the muscles in your child’s mouth to change the alignment of their teeth.

Invisible Aligners

Dentists understand that children are self-conscious about wearing braces. They may recommend having them wear invisible aligners instead. There are a number of benefits to these devices:

  • They don’t attract attention.
  • They can be removed for eating, sleeping or brushing.
  • Each set of aligners only needs to be worn for a couple of weeks.
  • They don’t have any wires, so they are less likely to cause damage to the teeth or gums.

You may want to ask your child’s dentist about an invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces. They may feel that your child would benefit from this treatment. They have been shown to help many children suffering from malocclusion.

Surgery

Children with extreme malocclusion may need to undergo surgery. An orthopedic surgeon will need to cut and reposition the jawbone. This is an intensive procedure and your child will need several weeks to recover. It is only recommended for children that can’t treat their condition any other way. Fortunately, very few cases of malocclusion are serious enough to warrant orthodontic surgery.

Sabi Crush – Pill Crusher Review

March 20, 2014 by Ashley Leave a Comment

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Over the years I have really hated how I am unable to swallow any pills that are bigger than the size of a mini M&M. It really can make life difficult at times and it frustrates me to no end. You cannot find many medications out there that are liquid or chewable. You can find more and more vitamins that are chewable though which is a plus.

Sabi CRUSH

I cannot tell you just how big a sigh of relief I let out when I was selected to review the Sabi Crush pill crusher. I could tell just from looking at the product pictures that this would be great for me. I have had pill crushers in the past, but I have found them hard to use because sometimes things are a little awkward and hard for me to use with my hands due to my disability.

The design of this Sabi CRUSH pill crusher is different from other ones that I have tried in the past because this pill crusher has a larger top for me to grip and screw down to crush the pills with ease. On top of the pill crusher being easy to use it also has a little container for storing pills in it so that you can bring them with you on the go and won’t have to have a second container separate from the pill crusher.

If you are interested in seeing what else Sabi produces you can check the brand out on both Facebook and on Twitter.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Keeping Your Four Legged Friends Healthy Isn’t Hard With Natural Dog Food #checkyourbag

February 12, 2014 by Ashley Leave a Comment

Taking care of my little four legged friends is very important to me.  I am always worrying about their health because to me they are my children.  When people ask if I am a mom I do say yes.  I know that they are my furry little children, but to me they mean just as much as a little child would.  Because of this I spend lots of time researching what if best for my dogs and my cats.

Keeping My Dogs Healthy

A006_C004_1128S7I find it very important that I keep my dogs healthy.  I like many other pet owners out there my pets are each a member of my family and I would be devastated if anything were to happen to them.  That is why I have looked up so much information about what is in their dog food and their dog treats.

After much research it came to my attention that the best diet for  my four legged friends is an all natural one.  This will help them a lot by removing a lot of unnecessary preservatives and fillers from their foods.  I already was giving them natural treats as I find them to be healthier for them and they always seem to enjoy them a lot more.

Natural Dog Food Is The Way To Go

Wellness is a great natural dog food brand that aims to help you take care of your pets health.  They do not add artificial colors, or ingredients.  They even created this awesome “Check Your Bag” website where you can find helpful information about what is in your dog’s food.  I love this site because you can look at it to see what is in their dog food as well as compare it to what is in their competitor’s natural dog foods.

Some of the biggest benefits to Wellness® Complete Health® Recipes include:

  • Live Active Probiotics – Added after the cooking process to promote a healthy intestinal tract and overall digestive health at guaranteed levels
  • Omega 3 & 6 Mix – Offering guaranteed levels of essential fatty acids for cellular function and healthy skin
  • Essential Vitamins & Minerals – Designed for cellular health, immunity and disease resistance
  • Fruit & Veggie Antioxidants – A proactive step in improving your pet’s nutrition
  • Rigorous Safety Testing – A Quality Assurance program that maintains strict standards for food safety
  • Excellent Nutritional Standards – Every batch of dry food is tested throughout the entire manufacturing process, from its basic ingredients to the finished products

Wellness Brand Wants to Help You Help Your Pet

The Wellness brand really wants to help you and your pups out so much that they have even created an great little Naturally Well Pet Community that you all should check out and join just like I did.  In this community you will be able to find some great helpful tips, ask any questions that you might have, as well as find some great little contests to enter as well.

I would also consider following them on their Facebook page to keep in touch with them and any promotions that they might be running at any time.  Finally, if you are considering purchasing their food you can check out their handy Store Locator since their food is not carried in all of the normal pet food haunts you might frequent.
